JB Linguistics
Remote & on-site interpretation

Interpretation that gets the meeting back on track.

When a parent doesn't understand the IEP meeting, a patient doesn't understand the consent form, or a witness can't testify — the meeting stops being useful. JB Linguistics fields trained interpreters who don't just translate words; they restore the shared context that lets the meeting do what it was scheduled to do.

On-demand remote interpretation (OPI)

Phone interpretation available within 30 seconds for routine outreach. Per-minute pricing with no monthly minimums for school districts and nonprofits. Coverage Monday–Friday 7am–7pm in 30+ languages; after-hours and weekend support available with 2-hour notice.

Scheduled video remote interpretation (VRI)

Scheduled video sessions for IEPs, depositions, telehealth, and any conversation where visual context matters. We use your platform (Zoom, Teams, Webex, Doxy, Cisco) so families don't install anything new. Per-session pricing with 24-hour cancellation policy.

On-site interpretation

In-person interpreters dispatched for court appearances, hospital settings, formal hearings, and multi-day events. Available within Greater Phoenix metro with 48-hour notice; national network for major US metros with 5-day lead time. Per-day or per-hour billing.

Trained for the specific setting

Healthcare interpreters trained in CHIA / NBCMI standards. School interpreters trained in IDEA, FERPA, and special-education vocabulary. Court interpreters trained in court-room protocol and oath procedures. We don't field generalists into specialized settings.

Per-engagement confidentiality

Every interpreter signs a per-engagement confidentiality agreement before the assignment begins. For healthcare engagements, HIPAA-aligned handling and per-assignment BAAs. For school settings, FERPA-aligned workflows. For legal work, court-appropriate protocol.

30+ languages, all credentialed

Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Arabic, Korean, Russian, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, French, Dari, Pashto, Somali, Swahili, Amharic, Burmese, Karen, Nepali, Punjabi, Urdu, ASL, and 30+ additional languages. Every interpreter is credentialed (CHIA, NBCMI, or court-certified equivalent) for the setting they work in.

Why district language-access leads keep us on call.

01

Same-week scheduling for routine needs

Most routine school interpretation requests (parent-teacher conferences, enrollment intake, ELL services planning) are filled within the same calendar week. Standing IEP and 504 meeting slots are pre-booked at the start of each semester so you never scramble.

02

The same interpreter when continuity matters

For multi-session matters (ongoing IEP teams, longitudinal healthcare cases, multi-day depositions), we assign the same lead interpreter throughout — so context isn't lost between sessions.

03

Trained for the vocabulary of the room

Special-education interpreters know the difference between 'accommodation' and 'modification' in IEP context. Healthcare interpreters know the difference between informed consent and informed refusal. Court interpreters know when to say 'objection' versus 'objection sustained'.

04

Compliance documentation done for you

For Title VI / EO 13166 audit work, we provide quarterly reporting documenting language access provision: assignments completed, languages served, sessions per setting, no-show rates, complaints resolved. Audit-ready PDF format.

05

Sliding-scale community rates

Nonprofits with documented 501(c)(3) status serving limited-English-proficient populations receive sliding-scale community rates — typically 30–50% below commercial rates. We need to be paid; we don't need to be paid like a Fortune 500 vendor.

06

Cancellation policy that respects your schedule

24-hour scheduled-session cancellation is no-charge. Same-day cancellation is 50% of the scheduled fee (versus 100% at most commercial agencies). On-demand phone interpretation has no cancellation fee — you only pay for time used.

Common questions

How fast can you provide an interpreter?

On-demand phone interpretation in 30+ languages is available within 30 seconds during business hours (Monday–Friday 7am–7pm Mountain Time). Scheduled video remote interpretation is typically filled within 24 hours for any major language. On-site interpretation in Greater Phoenix requires 48-hour notice; on-site interpretation in other US metros requires 5 business days.

Are your interpreters certified?

Yes. Healthcare interpreters are credentialed under CHIA (Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters) or NBCMI (National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters). Court interpreters are certified by their state's Administrative Office of the Courts or hold a federal certification for federal proceedings. School interpreters are trained in IDEA, FERPA, and special-education vocabulary. Every interpreter is credentialed for the setting they work in — we don't field generalists into specialized settings.

How does pricing work?

On-demand phone interpretation is billed per minute with no monthly minimum for school districts and nonprofits. Scheduled video remote and on-site interpretation are billed per session or per hour. Volume discounts are available for districts and clinics with 25+ engagements per month. Nonprofits with documented 501(c)(3) status receive sliding-scale community rates 30–50% below commercial rates.

Can you provide the same interpreter for ongoing matters?

Yes — and we recommend it for ongoing IEP teams, longitudinal healthcare cases, and multi-day depositions where continuity matters. When you book a standing slot, the same lead interpreter is assigned for the duration of the engagement. If the lead interpreter is unavailable for a specific session, the substitute receives a full briefing from the lead beforehand.

Do you do American Sign Language (ASL)?

Yes. ASL interpretation is available for video remote (VRI) and on-site settings. ASL interpreters are RID-certified (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) and credentialed for the setting they work in (educational, medical, legal). VRI is typically available within 24 hours; on-site requires 5 business days for non-emergency requests.

What's your no-show / cancellation policy?

24-hour scheduled-session cancellation is no-charge. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled session are billed at 50% of the scheduled fee. No-shows (where the interpreter dials in or arrives on-site and the meeting doesn't happen) are billed at 100%. On-demand phone interpretation has no cancellation fee — you only pay for actual time used.
